This week in 3B...

---Reading Week----
Wed is mis-match day for Reading Week. We will be reading to KB and a Rotary member will be reading to us.
Thursday is crazy socks.
Friday is wear Red, White, and Blue.

Thursday is our Native American day. We will be doing crafts and games in the morning. Thank you for returning the volunteer slips.

This week's spelling words are prefixes and suffixes: helper, unfair, friendly, unhappy, remake, careful, hopeful, unlike, retell, sadly, farmer, unhurt, have, said, unimportant, silently. Please remember the students use the words in dictated sentences to reinforce and evaluate grammar, handwriting, and punctuation. Also, research has shown using the words in context makes a greater connection than isolated words on a list.

Reading skills this week: Comprehension: Making judgements about a character's actions. Vocabulary: prefixes and suffixes. Grammar: irregular verbs (eat-ate-eaten, do-did-done, etc) Writing: problem-soultion

Project: We have enjoyed learning about many different tribes. The presentations have been varied. There are 6 students that need to complete theirs. Our next project is researching an animal or dinosaur. Many students are excited to begin. The purpose of the project is to create a writing sample that is research-based and includes topic sentences and supporting sentences, written in paragraphs. Many students are writing choppy fragments or small sentences. Hopefully, as we do more projects, the writing skills while continue to progress.

Math: Fractions: identifying fractions on a number line, identify and generate equivalent fractions, compare to half.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like to have a meeting to discuss your child's progress.
