week of Feb. 24th

Tomorrow will have Friendship Groups. We will be doing an activity for "Filling Buckets." Please have your child wear their tye-dye shirts.
Wednesday is an early out. Friday we will have Pam Holz come to discuss Native Americans.
Research projects are due Friday. There are many students still looking for information about their tribe. Others have finished research and are making something at home to represent the tribe. Monday, I will be showing them last year's students' PowerPoints to give them ideas. Some wanted to do an iMovie on the iPad to present their information on their tribe. Before beginning the presentation, they need to have their report written. We have discussed many times it needs to be written like a non-fiction chapter book. This will help them use topic sentences and supporting sentences to create a paragraph. There should be at least 6 topics they chose to learn more about when researching their tribe. You may want to check in with your child to see where s/he is in the process. We began discussing this project based learning the week of Feb. 5th.

This week's spelling words have base-word changes when -ed, -ing- or -es is added. Here are the spelling words: cared, babies, chopped, saving, carried, fixing, hurried, joking, grinning, smiled, wrapped, parties, making, stopped, moving, libraries.
We will also be focusing on compare and contrasting story concepts and points of view, helping verbs, and multiple meaning words.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Looks like another week of cold weather. Hopefully Spring is around the corner!! I can't wait to be able to ride my horses again.

Chinese

We have been having fun with chopsticks! Mrs. Hussey has shown us videos about Chinese New Year and now we are trying to get better with our chopstick skills. Everyone was very supportive and helpful trying to pass the Cheerios to each other using chopsticks. You have very kind children!

Fill a Bucket!

The 3B students are very good at filling other's Buckets. Please ask your child what this means. Here is a website for you to find more resources. Bucket Filler
